Lunar Supremacy: The Original Alpha

Chapter 30 CH: 30

ο»ΏThe mercenary leader cursed under his breath, slamming his fist against the wall in frustration. He had been hired for this mission, lured by the promise of a hefty payday.

But what had started as a simple task had devolved into a chaotic bloodbath, leaving him with a group of dead mercenaries and a growing sense of regret. The allure of money was strong, but at what cost?.

"Supernaturals," he spat out the word like a curse. "We need to get that hostage out of here, no matter what it takes."

His team of five nodded in unison, their eyes ablaze with a fierce determination. They were the elite of the elite, handpicked for their exceptional skills and expertise. They were confident in their abilities, and knew that they were the best of the best.

But even as they made their way towards the room where the hostage was being held, the leader couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that they were outmatched.

He knew they were dealing with a supernatural being, and from the sounds of it, a powerful one at that. But they were mercenaries, and they had a job to do. They would do whatever it takes to get the hostage out, even if it meant facing off against a bigfoot.

The elite mercenaries crept through the darkened hallways, their boots tapping against the concrete floors as they made their way towards their objective. They were a highly trained team, armed to the teeth with the latest weapons and gear. But as they approached the room where their target was being held, something felt off.

With their weapons at the ready, the team pushed open the door to the room.

"Where's the hostage?" one of them asked, shining his flashlight.

They checked the whole room but there was nothing there.

The commander cursed under his breath. "Dammit, someone beat us to it."

"We're leaving," he ordered, gritting his teeth in frustration. Their mission had been compromised, and he didn't want to risk any more casualties.

They had failed in their objective to secure the hostage, and there was no point in staying any longer.

The whole team nodded, clearly relieved that they could finally escape this godforsaken place.

But as they reached the door, a cold breeze rushed past them, making them shiver in fear.

Then a female voice, chilling and sinister, spoke directly into their minds.

"Leaving so soon?"

The mercenaries spun around, their weapons raised, but there was no one there. Suddenly, the door behind them slammed shut, and the walls began to bleed.

"What the fuck is happening?" one of them shouted.

The mercenaries' eyes widened in horror as they witnessed the room around them transform into a grotesque nightmare. The woman's voice echoed again, taunting them.

"You shouldn't have come here," she hissed.

The walls continued to bleed, forming puddles of blood at their feet. The commander raised his gun, ready to shoot at anything that moves.

But it was too late. They stumbled back in horror as the swarm of maggots surged towards them, their slick, wriggling bodies covering the floor and walls, and making the air thick with the stench of decay, and the sickly sweet smell of rotting flesh.

They tried to run, but the maggots were too fast. They crawled up their legs, seeping through their clothes, and entering their bodies through their pores and mouths. The mercenaries screamed in agony as the maggots burrowed into their flesh, devouring them from the inside out. Their bodies convulsed and twisted as it feasted on their organs and tissues.

The commander fell to his knees, his eyes wide with terror as he watched his men being devoured. He knew he was next. But then he heard a voice in his head.

"I'll save you for last"

Denise rose from the swarm of maggots, her eyes glowing with malevolent glee. Her face was now covered in blood and maggots, adding to her already eerie appearance. Her eyes glowed with a malevolent joy that sent shivers down the spine of the poor commander.

"Thanks for the snack," she giggled before piercing the commander's head with a weird black pulsing knife.

Thud.

He collapsed lifeless onto the ground, and the swarm of ravenous maggots descended upon him with insatiable hunger, devouring his flesh with no restraint.

As the last of the mercenaries fell to the swarm of maggots, the room fell silent. The once chaotic scene was now eerily calm, as if the violent massacre that had just taken place was just a figment of imagination.

But the bloodstains on the walls and floor remained. It was the only remnants of the gruesome carnage, served as a haunting reminder of the horrors that had occurred.

After a few moments of chaos, the sounds of gunfire and explosions slowly faded away.

George, who had previously been towering at eight feet tall, had now shrunk down to his normal size. He carefully made his way towards Denise, navigating the hallways with ease now that his large body was no longer a hindrance.

Denise turned around as George approached, her eyes gleaming in the dim light.

"Well done, George," she purred, "you really know how to make an entrance."

"You're damn right, boss. No one can stop us when we're together."George chuckled, a deep rumble emanating from his chest.

"I'm back to normal, don't call me boss," she said to George, her voice barely concealing the wickedness that still lurked within her.

"That's good to know, I hate that evil bitch. I like you more," he replied, his expression forced.

Denise rolled her eyes at George's attempt to flatter her.

"Yeah, I totally believe you," she said, her tone dripping with sarcasm. Despite her own twisted nature, she couldn't help but find George's attempts at deception somewhat amusing.

"We need to move quickly now. I have the target, but we can't stay here for long." she added.

George nodded in agreement, his keen senses alert for any danger that might lie ahead.

He carried the unconscious man, and they made their way towards the exit.
